The Dungeon Master

Zork III is somewhat less of a straightforward treasure hunt than previous installments. Instead, the player—in the role of the same "adventurer" played in Zork I and Zork II — must demonstrate worthiness to assume the role of the Dungeon Master.

The Wizard of Frobozz

The AFGNCAAP begins in the Barrow from Zork I armed only with the trusty brass lantern and sword of elvish antiquity. The purpose of the game is not initially clear.

Infocomm and Zork

Infocom was a software company, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that produced numerous works of interactive fiction. It was founded on June 22, 1979 by MIT staff and students led by Dave Lebling, Marc Blank, Albert Vezza, and Joel Berez and lasted as an independent company until 1986 when it was bought by Activision. Activision finally shut down the Infocom division in 1989, although they released some titles in the 1990s under the Infocom Zork brand.

The Revenge of Megaboz
