Classic Shaving

Classic ShaveI had a beard for at least 10 years and as I got older I found I started to look more and more like a "Badger". I loved having a beard but I had forgotten what it was like to have a clean chin. I never liked electric razors, and going back to my Army days, I missed using an old fashioned double edged razor and shaving brush.

When I lived in London, I used to use a straight razor once in a while and it's a skill I have always wanted to master (without losing my nose). I wasn't too bad, but I do remember losing a mole when I first started out. Nowadays I am pretty good with a straight razor and love taking the time in the morning to have a decent shave.

Since I started back on the shave wagon, I found thats there's a huge following of straight razor shaving and some very active places on the web. There's also some amazing razors which border on Artistic creations instead of an implement for removing stubble. There's also something immensely funny hearing a grown man discuss a shaving soap as having "lavender base-notes" and not get ridiculed by his peers (although there is some "smirking" allowed).

I started this section to put down my notes on some of the razors out there in the wilds of eBay, so hopefully when you see that razor in an old flea market, you can make a more informed decision on whether or not its a good buy and give you some information on where to go to get it restored and shave "worthy".

This section is a work in progress :-) Hope you find it fun.
